The Idea
"Expedition Gourmet" is a series of luxury culinary
vacations to the best kitchens and premier hotels in some
of the most beautiful locations on earth.
"Discover the best cuisine and the
most exquisite wine cellars in the world with like-minded
bon vivants in a small gourmet group, along with top
local chefs. You will also enjoy high standards of individuality
and comfort"
... That's pretty much how to describe "Expedition
Gourmet".
We're happy that you have picked up our advert. We're
also happy to be able to tell you the destination of
our first Expedition - California, a really culinary
delight.
But first of all, we'd like to tell you a little bit
about ourselves and how our unusual travel events got
started.
It was during job related travel that we - and by 'we'
we mean Thomas Fuchs and Stefan Klemm - came up with
the idea for "Expedition Gourmet". As company
consultants, we arranged international conferences and
incentive vacations, at the highest level and in all
corners of the world. All the while, we continued to
pursue our private passion for good food and fine wines.

Before long, we knew the best cuisine from anywhere between
San Francisco, Tokyo and Cape Town.
In summer 2002, we were sitting with Frank Marrenbach,
manager of the grand dame of the German hotel trade, the
Brenner's Park Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden. It wasn't
long before agreed that it was time to launch "Expedition
Gourmet" and show German gourmets the most beautiful
places and best cuisine in the world.
There was only one problem - how were we going to meet
genuinely like-minded connoisseurs? We decided that
there was no better place than where people go to enjoy
food - the best German restaurants!
Martin Scharff, who owns the Wartenberger Mühle
in Palatinate and is a member of the renowned group
of star chefs, the Jeunes Restaurateurs, loved the idea.

The hard work of the 43 top chefs from the Jeunes Restaurateurs
d´Europe, Germany, is not just in celebration of
high quality established cuisine. They also aim to innovatively
supplement the tried and tested standards of modern cuisine
with fresh and sometimes bold accents from elsewhere.
